Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club – Mental Wellness for Youth Partnership

(As of December 2020)

Distributed 3,300 food packages over seven weeks in May and June - approximately 1,400 at Coudert, 900 at Throggs Neck, 500 at Palmaro and 500 at Castle Hill. In September and October, we resumed food distributions and gave out 500 more food packages.

Summer camp operated for seven weeks from July to August, with 100 campers attending at the Palmaro Clubhouse and 60 attending at the Coudert Clubhouse.

Offered new STEM programming, with all campers participating in 18-20 hours of Game Changers (a coding curriculum that we are offering as part of our participation in the National Imagine Science project), and Brent’s Club.

(As of June 2020)

Beginning the first week of May, Kips Bay staff opened the food pantries to hand out nutritious food packages with pasta, tomato sauce, juice, vegetables and fruits, cereal, canned soup, canned tuna fish and Nutri-grain bars.

The food pantries have been open for two hours once a week and have been serving approximately 800 households each week.

The demand for the food pantry services has been high, especially at the Coudert Clubhouse (located in the West Bronx), and they seek to continue this programming for as long as possible to meet the community’s significant needs.
